Background of Mário Peixoto

Mário Peixoto’s film left its mark not only in the cinematographic and cultural history of Brazil. There was the controversy already a little distant from Glauber Rocha about the new cinema, in the 1960s, when he opposed Humberto Mauro’s Ganga Bruta (1933) to Peixoto’s film (see later in this text). More recently, we found a sequence with Peixoto himself in O Cinema Falado (1986), Caetano Veloso’s only film. Adriana Calcanhoto projected scenes from the film during the song O Mocho ea Gatinha , on her DVD Adriana Partimpim (2004).
